How to Create a Video Engagement Custom Audience with Meta Ads

This feature is only applicable to Meta Ads campaigns.

With Video Engagement Custom Audiences, you can create audiences of people who have watched your videos on Facebook or Instagram to focus on crafting ads to retarget this audience. These audiences can be built from video views across feeds, stories, and other eligible placements on both Facebook and Instagram. This process is similar to how we retarget first-party video audiences in programmatic video campaigns.

 

Instructions

  1. From your XPO Admin Dasbhoard, click on Audience from the menu bar.
  2. Click +Audience to create a new Audience Segment.
    • Enter your Audience Segment Name.
    • Select your Audience Type as Meta Ads, then select Video Audience as the audience sub-type.
    • Select the Meta Ads Account that you will use to create this audience segment.

  3. Select the Meta page from the populated dropdown page list linked to the selected Meta ad account.
  4. Choose one or more videos from the dropdown list. This list will include all video ads created for the selected Facebook page under the selected Facebook ad account from step 1.

  5. Create your own rule groups (with a maximum of 7 rules with an OR relationship between the selected videos) for your target audience based on video engagement levels, which include people who:

        • have viewed at least 3 seconds of your video
        • have viewed at least 10 seconds of your video
        • have viewed at least 15 seconds of your video
        • have viewed at least 25% of your video
        • have viewed at least 50% of your video
        • have viewed at least 75% of your video
        • have viewed at least 100% of your video
  6. Specify the period of consideration for creating the rule(s). The look-back window lies between 1 to 365 days. The default setting will be 365 days. Click Save.
  7. View the newly created segment from the Audience dashboard and link it to your Meta campaign and ad groups. 

 

  • Even if a linked video (to XPO) is deleted from Meta, the respective audience segment will remain active in your XPO campaign as it has been synced from Meta. 
  • You can clone, archive, and edit the custom audience by updating the name, adding or removing existing rules, and updating the look-back window.
  • You can create a lookalike audience segment based on this Metavideo engagement custom audience.
  • You can sync video audiences from your Meta Ad Account.
