A tracking pixel (or pixel for short) is a small snippet of HTML code or a script that is loaded when a user visits a website or opens an email. By using a tracking pixel, advertisers can gather data for online marketing, web analysis, or email marketing.
(A) Conversion Pixel Setup - Website
- Under Pixel > Conversion, click +Conversion Goal.
- Complete the following information:
- Conversion goal name: Assign a name to the conversion goal pixel to make it easily identifiable later.
-
Conversion type: Indicate whether you are setting up conversion tracking for a website or a mobile app, as each require a different mechanism for tracking conversion.
- Destination URL: Enter the URL for the landing page where you want to track the conversion event.
- Variables: Select the variables that you wish to receive from the pixel. You can also create custom variables in XPO.
- Page Type: Select a conversion goal page type from the dropdown menu (eg. Install, Download, Conversions such as FB Lead page, Thank-You page, etc.)
- Click-through Attribution Window: Enter the number of days between the day a user last clicked on your ad before converting.
- View-through Attribution Window: Enter the number of days between the day a user last viewed your page before converting.
- Value: Enable this option if you are tracking bookings or transactions with associated values.
- Meta Ads Pixel: Enable this option to link your conversion goal pixel to your Meta Ads account for cross-channel tracking.
- Google Ads Pixel: Enable this option to link your conversion goal pixel to your Google Ads account for cross-channel tracking.
- LinkedIn Ads Pixel: Enable this option to link your conversion goal pixel to your LinkedIn Ads account for cross-channel tracking.
- TikTok Ads Pixel: Enable this option to link your conversion goal pixel to your TikTok Ads account for cross-channel tracking.
- Third-Party Script: Enable this option to add third-party scripts such as DCM, Bing, etc. if applicable.
- Funnel: Enable this option to track the entire user conversion journey (funnel). Once this option is enabled, you must embed the respective tags into the different steps and pages your user will engage within the funnel.
Under Funnel, enabling the REQUIRED option will force this field to be shown in the XPO report regardless of any value being captured.
RE-IMPLEMENT IF YOU MAKE ANY SUBSEQUENT CHANGES:
If you change any of the fields in this funnel section (e.g. the URL) after embedding the original pixel script into your website, your pixel script will be altered (with new parameters or variables). In this case, you will need to re-implement and update your website with the newly generated Knorex pixel/tag.
- Click Save. Under the Conversion tag screen, go to the Action column to find the pixel that you have just created. Click Download to access the pixel code (in Microsoft Excel format).
(B) Conversion Pixel Setup - Mobile App
To track conversion events on mobile apps, you must embed an SDK as provided by XPO-supported Mobile Measurement Platforms (MMP). Make sure you have completed this step before proceeding with the following instructions.
