How To Generate Conversion Pixel?

A tracking pixel (or pixel for short) is an HTML code snippet or a script that is loaded when a user visits a website or opens an email. With a tracking pixel, advertisers can acquire data for online marketing, web analysis, or email marketing.

(A) If Setting Up For Website

  1. Under Pixel > Conversion, click +Conversion Goal.

  2. Complete the following information:
    • Select Advertiser to specify the advertiser's account that you want to create the tag/pixel for.
    • Conversion goal name: name the goal pixel to enable you to identify it easily later.
    • Conversion Type: specify if you are setting up conversion tracking for either a website or a mobile app as each will require different mechanism for tracking conversion.

      • Destination URL: this is the landing page or destination URL where you would like to track the conversion event.
      • Variables: select the variables that you would like to receive from the pixel. You can also create custom variable in XPO if you want.
      • Page Type: select one conversion goal page type from the drop-down (eg. Install, Download, Conversions such as FB Lead page, Thank-You page, etc.)
      • Click-through Attribution Window: the number of days after a user last clicked on your page and converted.
      • View-through Attribution Window: the number of days after a user last viewed your page and converted.
      • Value: enable this if what you are tracking is bookings or transactions with transaction value.
      • Facebook Pixel: enable this and link to your Facebook account to allow cross-channel tracking using Knorex pixel.
      • Ad Words Pixel: enable this and link to your Google Adwords account to allow cross-channel tracking using Knorex pixel.
      • LinkedIn Pixel: enable this and link to your LinkedIn account to allow cross-channel tracking using Knorex pixel.
      • Third-Party Script: enable this to add third-party scripts such as DCM, Bing, etc. if you are using any of them.
      • Funnel:
        • Use this option if you want to track the different stages in a buying or conversion journey. By default, this option is not enabled as you would typically embed the conversion pixel into the terminal/last page (often, it is represented by the "Thank you" or "payment successful" page).
        • However, there are situations where you want to track the entire funnel or conversion journey as it involves multiple steps or stages before a user finally completes the transaction to reach the "Thank you" / "payment successful" page. For instance, these intermediate stages could be where user selects the booking details such as time/date, items, enter contact details, etc, before confirming details, payment details, and confirmation of payment.
        • Once this option is enabled, you will need to embed the respective tags into the different steps/pages within the funnel.
        • NOTE: Under Funnel, enabling the REQUIRED option will force this field to be shown in the XPO report regardless of any value being captured.

        RE-IMPLEMENT IF ANY SUBSEQUENT CHANGE:

If you were to change or edit any info for any of the field in this funnel section e.g. the URL after you have embedded the original pixel script into your website, then very likely the pixel script has been changed (new parameters / variables). You will need to re-implement and update with the newly generated Knorex pixel/tag on your website if you have embedded the script/tag earlier.

  3. Click Save. Under the Conversion tag screen, go to the Action column to find the pixel that you have just created. Click Download to get the pixel code (in Microsoft Excel format).

(B) If Setting Up For Mobile App

BEFORE YOU START:

To track conversion events on mobile app, you would need to embed SDK provided by the XPO-supported Mobile Measurement Platforms (MMP) instead of embedding pixel as what you would do for a website. Configure the supported MMP before following the steps below.

Once you have configure and set up your MMP, follow these steps in XPO:

  • Select your iOS or Android Mobile App.
  • Choose your Goal Type as Install, In-App Purchase, or First Open.
  • Click-through Attribution Window: the number of days after a user last clicked on your page and converted.
  • View-through Attribution Window: the number of days after a user last viewed your page and converted.
  • Value: enable this if what you are tracking is bookings or transactions with transaction value.
